Dark Chocolate and Caffeine

Caffeine and Dark Chocolate
Dark Chocolate is great for your skin! German researchers gave 24 women a half-cup of special extra-flavonoid-enriched cocoa every day. After three months, the women's skin was moister, smoother, and less scaly and red when exposed to ultraviolet light. The flavonoid, fisetin, inhibits UV radiation-induced oxidative stress and the activation of NF-кB and MAPK signaling in human lens epithelial cells. The researchers think the flavonoids, which absorb UV light, help protect and increase blood flow to the skin, improving its appearance.

Dark Chocolate is rich in antioxidants. If there is anything in this world that I promise will improve your skin, second only to sunscreen, is antioxidants. You can eat your antioxidants or you can put them right on your skin. Dark chocolate will make your skin appear more smooth, soften wrinkles, and neutralize the free radicals that cause sun damage. It can also improve circulation in skin when combined with caffeine. According to PubMedcaffeine does penetrate into the skin. According to the published peer reviewed article linked in PubMed, the diffusion rate for caffeine through human skin is 2.2 x 10-6 grams per centimeter squared of skin, per hour.

When you mix your masks, do not forget to add the chocolate and caffeine.
